In the car, Mo QingXia was chatting with Gu ZhouTing about HuMing.
She knew very well how much the old man in their family valued HuMing—truthfully, even more than his own grandsons.

The moment he heard HuMing’s name, Gu ZhouTing perked up immediately.
He turned to look and saw HuMing walking alongside a girl. They were chatting and smiling, their bodies close. If they were holding hands, the scene would’ve looked even more natural.
What really surprised Gu ZhouTing was the smile on HuMing’s face. It was the first time he’d ever seen the boy look so relaxed—especially around a girl.
“Who’s that girl?”
“No idea. HuMing never mentioned having any classmates around here...” Mo QingXia’s voice trailed off, caught mid-thought. She turned to look at Gu ZhouTing, just as he turned to look at her.
Their eyes met—and in that instant, both realized something important.
“That night HuMing didn’t come home, he said he stayed at a friend’s place, right?” Gu ZhouTing said. “But from what YunZhou told me, HuMing didn’t have many friends at school at the time. So if he stayed at someone’s place... could it have been her?”
Though old, Gu ZhouTing’s mind was still sharp.
There was definitely something going on between HuMing and that girl—no question about it.
“You don’t think... he actually spent the night at her place, do you?”
Mo QingXia didn’t know how to respond. But she had a feeling that was exactly what had happened.
If so, then they definitely needed to look into that girl.
“Dad, it’s not like our family needs to go around arranging marriages, right?”
