After that, the four of us had dinner and parted ways. We came back to my room.

"Yuki, you can go ahead and take a bath. I've been asked to give a lecture at another hospital tomorrow, so I have to prepare for that.”

“Okay. I'll go in first then.”

I gathered the materials and got them ready. I checked the USB on the computer and put it in my bag.

Yuki came out of the bath and looked at the documents I prepared.

“This? This is the material from when I was with Doctors Without Borders. I've risked my life in the field of medicine in war zones, too. After all, we didn’t have enough supplies. We needed a military helicopter to send them to us. Don't think that because you are carrying the Red Cross on your back that you’ll be safe. Most of them were civilians, but they were targeted anyway.”

“That's terrible..."

“That's how it is with humans, isn't it? How many world wars have we been through already? There’s even a chance that the next world war could be a nuclear war. If you look at Japan, they must not want to use nuclear weapons, so they will use different methods of terrorism and war, right? Civil wars are just a place to make money. The higher-ups know what they are doing. They want to know how powerful the weapons they make are. They want to sell their weapons. It's that kind of world. It is always the weak who are sacrificed…. Well then. I guess I'll take a bath too.”

I went to the bathroom and remembered what Leonardo had said. Yes. They're going to make a move.

I got agitated and hit the bath water. When I got out of the bath, Yuki was looking at a picture. It was a picture taken there. It was taken with local children.

"Hey! I want to know about your siblings.”

“I don't know much about you either.”

“I am a member of the Kashiwagi group. My parents own a big hospital. They want me to be the director of that hospital someday. Lately I've been telling them that I like the field so much that I'd like someone else to do it for me. I've changed since I met you. If there is someone who can take my place, let them do it. What I can't replace, I will do it. That’s what I said.”

“Did I say that to you?”

“No, that's not it. There are plenty of doctors. There are always replacements. But there is no replacement for you.”

“??? I don't know what you mean.”

"There are doctors who can treat patients, but someone who can speak in their native language and even makes communication cards for foreign patients who may be anxious about coming to another country. There is no substitute for you.”

Yuki puts her arms around my neck as she says this.

"Marc. I know you are about to get involved in something dangerous and I also understand that you are the one who is being depended on. But. For me, there is no substitute for you! I can never replace you! That’s why!”
