Ch. 91 - Invoking the Blood Husk Buddha — A Clash of Gods

BOOM!!

A massive bolt of lightning split the sky, striking down a ghastly entity.

Then, to the shock of Su Lingling and the others, lightning poured down as if it were free, endlessly cleaving through the air.

Rumble—rumble—rumble!!!

Blinding arcs illuminated everything. Every paranormal entity near Bai Wan was struck, collapsing into twitching heaps. They fell like cut wheat, piling into grotesque mounds of flesh before seizing up in death-state.

Crack!! Such was the terror of thunder’s wrath.

Bai Wan charged forward, cloaked in bolts like a descending thunder god. Several serpentine thunder-dragons coiled around him, blasting apart any paranormal entities in his path, leaving them stiffened corpses.

Su Lingling and the others could only gape at the sight.

What kind of move is that??? How the hell did he suddenly go Super Saiyan?!

Jiang Zai and the rest stumbled after him, too afraid to get close. Bolts struck the ground at random, forcing them to dodge. They had to stay razor-focused, or risk being fried by his indiscriminate storm.

In the torrent of lightning, Bai Wan carved a path, his Raiton Kirin rampaging through the tide of horrors. This was the power of upgraded AOE Misfortune.

Boom!

They broke through to the green-clad paranormal that had been their target. It faltered, trying to retreat—

—but Bai Wan was faster, and his Misfortune field spread wider still. The green-clad entity was already within range.

CRACK!

Lightning speared down.

But at that instant…the very air shimmered. The bolt froze mid-strike—then blinked out of existence. The green figure erupted with a suffocating ink black aura, so thick it condensed into form. 

Behind it loomed a colossal silhouette, a shadow vast enough to blot the sun, its matted hair hiding its face, its towering body like a living mountain. 

An oppressive chill radiated outward. Through its veil of hair, two cavernous eye-sockets glinted faintly, gazing down at them with the indifference of a god watching ants.

Szzzttt…

The moment it manifested, Su Lingling’s detector cracked, then burst apart.

Szzzttt—Boom! 

It exceeded measurable limits. An existence beyond S-rank… a Paranormal God.  Suspended in the air, unmoving, it nullified every lightning bolt aimed its way.

Crack—crack—An unseen barrier simply erased them.

Bai Wan’s brow creased.

Are we too late? Has the future’s Mountain God invaded the present?

The massive silhouette drifted—yet not toward him. It floated instead to the green-clad figure, the present Mountain God, still in its growth phase. Its foul aura spread thick.

“What’s it doing?” Jiang Zai muttered, eyes fixed on the invader.

Is it here to devour its past self to grow stronger? But if it swallows its past, wouldn’t its future self vanish as well?

They couldn’t understand. But what followed shocked them speechless.

The newborn Mountain God—still in its juvenile state—suddenly grasped its future self by the throat. Its jaws yawned open far wider than its body, a black abyss inhaling with force. Slowly, horribly, it dragged the vast future Mountain God into its maw.

“???”

Everyone shuddered as realization crashed down.

It wasn’t the future devouring the present—It was the present devouring the future!

Cold sweat drenched Jiang Zai and the rest.

Because this Mountain God could invade the past, it had carved open a monstrous loophole—summoning its future self to be devoured, bypassing years of growth and seizing that power in an instant… to ascend as a true god.

Whoosh!

The newborn Mountain God clamped down. The vast, shadowed titan was dragged, piece by piece, into its abyssal maw. Its head vanished, then its arms, its torso—gone in heartbeats. And with each gulp, the fledgling grew stronger before their eyes.

Crackle…Malevolent aura rolled off its frame, green light flaring across the world.

The newborn Paranormal God had descended.

Bai Wan and the others froze, paralyzed. Before such godhood, every trick and tactic was rendered meaningless. 

Bai Wan couldn’t even twitch a finger. All they saw was the Mountain God striding toward them, clad in its green shroud, filling their vision with inevitability.

Under that pressure, despair crushed their lungs.

Is this the end…?

Jiang Zai and the others felt death’s weight closing in. They could only stare helplessly, waiting for it to strike.

Bai Wan, too, knew he was about to die—which was why he no longer hesitated and burned his final card.

BOOM!

His left arm blazed crimson. An eye snapped open in the flesh, glaring into the void.

And in that instant, the crushing force on Jiang Zai and the rest evaporated. They gaped as scarlet light enveloped Bai Wan, a terrifying aura flooding the space.

BOOM! A sacred, blood-drenched pressure erupted, a divine radiance forcing their eyes shut.

From the sky whispered faint chants. Jiang Zai forced his gaze upward—then his pupils shrank in terror.

Blood-red runes spiraled around a looming Buddha-form, its face hidden. Only the curl of a devilish smile was visible, lips moving with a genderless, resonant chant. Countless twisted arms unfurled behind it like spider legs.

Divine invocation—the Blood Husk Buddha had descended.

The space split in two halves, one soaked crimson, the other veiled green.

The Mountain God stared across the divide, hollow-eyed, while the Blood Husk Buddha struck first.

Its hands pressed together. From nowhere, a flood of blood poured forth, a river writhing with anguished wails, surging to drown the god.

But the Mountain God stood unfazed. Green light swathed its body. It raised a hand, and a phantom mountain tore into existence, severing the blood-river.

CRASH!

When mountain and blood collided—

Lin Baoyu and the others felt their very souls ripped from their flesh.

Su Lingling’s face went pale, her gaze locked on Bai Wan, shrouded in the Blood Buddha’s glow.

What… what kind of power is this? The Mountain God is beyond S-rank, yet what Bai Wan had summoned—is holding its ground.
