Beast Tamer levels went from 1 to 9, and above Level 9 were Black Iron, Silver, Gold, and the impossibly high King level. A Level 1 Beast Tamer was basically just an ordinary person whose Contract Spirit was merely a decorative pet.

He rubbed the slime's head. It felt like squeezing a big chunk of jelly.
To be fair, the texture was actually quite nice.
