Vol. 1 - Ch. 76 - Not Romantic Enough

After midnight today, it would be the new year, and when the time came, a grand firework display would be held outside the city suburbs.

By now, most of the fireworks were in place in the suburbs, ready to be lit when it was time.

Since there was still some time before midnight, the people in charge of lighting the fireworks were sitting together, drinking and chatting.

Suddenly, several dark silhouettes appeared behind them. Before they could react, they were all knocked out and dragged into the forest.

A cold, expressionless beauty with a long sword hanging from her waist slowly walked out of the darkness of the forest.

Ten dark figures followed behind the woman, waiting for her next order.

The woman raised her hand, and the dark figures immediately started arranging the fireworks.

Once everything was ready, You Lian sent Yue Qingyou a voice transmission. “Lady Left Guardian, we are all set.”

Meanwhile, Ning Yechen held Luo Ruying’s hand and finally squeezed through the crowd, heading to a less crowded street.

Even though it was no longer crowded, the two of them continued to hold hands and showed no signs of letting go.

Behind them, Yue Qingyou was smiling in relief.

At this moment, she received the voice transmission from You Lian.

“Good!” Yue Qingyou said.

She walked up to Luo Ruying and bowed. “Madam, I heard that the Lunar New Year’s fireworks show is about to begin. Are you interested?”

“Fireworks? Doesn’t it start at midnight? Isn't it a little early?” Luo Ruying said quizzically.

In her memory, the fireworks did not start this early.

Ning Yechen immediately felt Yue Qingyou was secretly planning something again.

Sure enough, she did not abide by his orders.

Facing Luo Ruying’s doubts, Yue Qingyou appeared calm and explained, “Madam, you see, the fireworks show has been brought forward.”

“Oh?” Luo Ruying said.

She had heard the Lunar New Year’s fireworks show was glorious and unforgettable.

Before stepping out, Qi Yuan had reminded her not to miss it.

Yue Qingyou nodded firmly. “Yes, Ma'am.”

“Since we’re here, we should catch it.” Luo Ruying smiled and turned to look at Ning Yechen to ask for his opinion.

“Dear, since you’re interested, let’s go.” Although Ning Yechen did not know what Yue Qingyou was up to, Luo Ruying seemed keen on watching, so he would not refuse her.

They carried Luo Hongye to a small hill where people could view the fireworks.

From this location, they could overlook the lights in the city and enjoy the fireworks blooming under the night sky.

When Ning Yechen and Luo Ruying arrived with Luo Hongye, there was not a single soul in sight on the hill.

This was strange. There was no one here…

Perhaps they did not know about the time change.

Luo Ruying felt puzzled.

Little did they know that the area had been cleared out in advance.

Yue Qingyou sent a voice transmission to You Lian. “They’re here. You may begin.”

“Yes, Lady Left Guardian,” You Lian replied.

You Lian ordered her subordinates, “Do it.”

The moment they received the order, the secret guards swiftly lit the fuses.

In an instant, a series of flames shot into the night sky, and colorful fireworks exploded in the dark background.

Vivid and dazzling fireworks lit up the entire night sky, along with the twinkling stars in the background.

Sure enough, Qi Yuan was spot on about the fireworks being a must-see event!

Luo Ruying carried Luo Hongye while taking in the nighttime scenery of the glorious fireworks and brightly lit city.

It felt peaceful and comfortable to her. She had never experienced this in the Heavenly Realm.

Suddenly, she felt that cultivation and the Heavenly Realm could not compare to simple pleasures she had experienced in the Mortal Realm.

Luo Hongye, lying in her mother’s arms, turned her head and looked at the brilliant sight before her.

Ning Yechen wanted to reprimand Yue Qingyou for sticking her nose into his business, but seeing the joy on his family's faces, he decided to forgive Yue Qingyou.

At this moment, other people in the city also noticed the fireworks in the sky. They stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky.

Someone quickly noticed something amiss and asked in confusion, “Hey, this doesn’t seem right! Why did the fireworks show start early?”

“Uh-huh. Why didn’t anyone notify us?”

The people who noticed this change swarmed toward the hill where Ning Yechen and his family were.

The Demon Lord and his wife were going to spend some quality time alone, so Yue Qingyou would never allow anyone to get in their way!

A fog strangely rose from the bottom of the hill. When people entered the fog, they immediately lost their way.

No matter how they tried, they couldn’t get out!

Yue Qingyou was determined to create the perfect romantic atmosphere for the couple!

Seeing that Luo Ruying and Ning Yechen were still holding hands and watching the spectacle without taking things to the next level, Yue Qingyou frowned.

Although Yue Qingyou had created a good atmosphere, there were gooseberries around, so how could he be in the mood?

Yue Qingyou immediately understood. She turned to look at Meng Niu, Cai Se, and Bai Yuan and ordered coldly, “Stop getting in the way! Leave this instant!”

“I’m talking about you!” Ning Yechen shouted using voice transmission.

Yue Qingyou had no self-awareness at all!

Yue Qingyou looked baffled. It did not dawn on her that Ning Yechen was referring to her.

“Yes, Demon Lord.”

In order to give Ning Yechen and Luo Ruying some space alone together, Yue Qingyou led Meng Niu, Cai Se, and Bai Yuan away.

They’re finally gone. Ning Yechen held Luo Ruying’s hand, and they sat down together on the grass, leaning on each other and quietly watching the fireworks.

Even though the atmosphere was romantic, Luo Hongye was still in Luo Ruying’s arms.

With a child present, even if it was romantic, it was impossible to do anything else.

Then again, it was a different kind of bliss to sit and view fireworks for the family of three.

At least he still enjoyed it.

Not far away in the bushes, Yue Qingyou, Meng Niu, Cai Se, and Bai Yuan secretly poked their heads out.

Yue Qingyou frowned slightly, looking thoughtful.

What she wanted did not happen!

Perhaps the atmosphere was not romantic enough!
