On the wall, the projection flickered to life.
Three separate images filled the screen.
Ye QiuXue and Kang Xin. Xia XiaoXi and Han YunXi. And… a face he didn’t recognize.

Slowly, Francis’s smile faded.
His eyes bore into HuMing’s, as if trying to pierce through him with sheer will. But everyone knew—he couldn’t.
“That look again, HuMing!”
“That’s the same damn look you gave me back then!”
He slammed his fist onto the table. His fury burned in his eyes like wildfire.
“Am I really that insignificant in your eyes? Even after everything I’ve done—killing all those people, manipulating the ones closest to you—you still look at me like that! Don’t I deserve to be your opponent?!”
It wasn’t the first time HuMing had heard something like this.
Back when he dealt with Gu ZhaoChuan, the guy had said the same thing.

But HuMing never looked down on anyone.

Each word stabbed into Francis like a knife.
He wanted to deny it—but he couldn’t.
His fists clenched so tightly they shook. His eyes turned bloodshot.

HuMing turned and walked to the bookshelf. With a swift kick, he knocked it over, revealing a hidden passage behind.
Francis’s eyes widened in shock, but he quickly forced himself to calm down.

With that, he disappeared into the passage.
Francis stood frozen, watching the fading silhouette.
He took a deep breath, regaining his composure.
Then he picked up the phone.
“It’s time. Make your move. And send me the photos.”
Zero hung up the call and turned his gaze toward the vast sea beyond.
Just hours ago, he’d left that island—carrying out Francis’s orders.
He recalled the conversation in the office. Francis had looked him in the eye and laid out his mission with brutal clarity.
“Han YunXi’s life is in your hands now. You know full well—those people have nothing to do with you. Whether they live or die means nothing. Because the one who raised you… was me.”
Zero sat in silence, eyes closed, lost in thought.
If HuMing failed this time, everything would fall apart.
