Ch. 17 - Attack of the Dog Demon

The dog's speed was astonishing, covering nearly a hundred meters in the blink of an eye and arriving at the entrance of the factory.

However, sensing something, the dog suddenly halted its movement, arching its back slightly, and its fur bristled.

Inside the control room.

The driver, lying on a bed, shifted in his sleep and mumbled a couple of dream-induced phrases.

The other two individuals in the control room frowned as they looked at the dog on the screen, exchanging glances.

"A dog demon?"

"Though it has only undergone demonization recently, why would it appear in such a remote place?"

"Could it be that fool Luo Tian brought it here?"

"Are you kidding me?"

"Could he be thinking of sending a few apprentices who haven't even left the school to fight demons?"

They were clearly disgruntled.

The driver, seeming half-awake, stretched lazily and glanced sleepily at the monitor. Bored, he commented.

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, the dog, which had hesitated outside the door, seemed to sense the absence of danger. It let out a low growl and charged into the factory, sniffing around continuously.

Having identified its target, it charged precisely toward the direction of the students, colliding with various objects and creating noise along the way.

Amid this unusual situation, the students finally began to wake up, groggily perceiving the crimson eyes of the dog demon in the darkness.

The dog's eyes were bone-chilling.

Ferocious, greedy and selective in its prey.

Most importantly, the students had never before experienced such a situation, having always remained safely within the city.

Although they had received teachings about how to respond to sudden demon attacks in the wild, in their panic, they were all like fledglings, utterly bewildered.

The two teachers were the first to react.

Confused, he gritted his teeth and rushed forward and stood beside Du Xu, continuously muttering to himself for encouragement.

A few more individuals stepped forward, forming a line in front.

The two teachers watched the scene before them with a touch of helplessness. They sighed softly, withdrawing their auras.

The dog demon grew restless once again.

Its bloodthirsty gaze fixed on the humans before it, viewing them as a mere sustenance.

Lacking any form of intelligent thought, it couldn't determine its fate for the day.

Yet an instinctual desire arose within it.

Devour them.

"Roar!"

Issuing another low growl, the dog demon charged again. Du Xu remained the calmest among them, gripping the wooden stick and moving forward instead of retreating.

He withstood the demon's sharp claws, swinging the stick with a hissing sound.

The damp stick snapped directly.

The dog demon merely shook its head lightly, leaving a bloody scratch on Du Xu's arm.

Seemingly having caught the scent of blood, the dog demon grew even more frenzied, pacing agitatedly.

...

"He does have some backbone."

"Just a bit foolish, not realizing that the dog demon's hardest part is its head."

"A bit clueless."

"But he's like those stubborn fools, exuding a stubborn aura."

Inside the control room, watching the scene, the driver smacked his lips, though his tone was somewhat mocking. However, his gaze toward Du Xu held genuine appreciation.

As a soldier,

He particularly liked spirited young fellows like him.

During his time in the reserves, these kinds of youngsters...

Were particularly satisfying to fight against.

They resisted, they remained unyielding.

They could be repeatedly challenged.
