My Vampire

“Making these kinds of drugs. Would any of them have followed you if you didn’t use such a thing? It seems that you are not making any more dependents either. You are probably all alone now, aren’t you? I am sorry to see that you have lost faith in your own household. You’re pathetic.”

My father looked at my uncle sadly. The hunters were fighting over the ashes of the drugs. I couldn’t help but feel sad that this was happening.

“From the looks of it, you were also using that drug too. We have a long life to live, you know. Each one of us has to find some meaning in our lives and live for it. And we must protect it gently. Vampires are the only immortal beings in this world. If you want to be a king, do it. Go to a remote country and help them, and you will easily become their king. Then, will you be satisfied?”

“I will not be satisfied with that! I won't let it end like this. I will surely take my revenge on you.”

With these words, he staggered out of the church. There was someone by his side to support him. …I see, he’s a dependent, but he won’t be around for long. I could tell by the sad look on my father’s face.

Father turned around and said to us with a big smile.

Mikey says, “Come on, old man, at least send us a message. I know you must have your own messenger. And you have plenty of dependents, too.”

"If I use something like that, Tyler will find out. That won't allow me to proceed with my plan."

“What plan?” We asked.

“I’ve been planting different things on the land where they grow the drugs and had the growers set them up. I had to do it little by little, too, because we didn’t want them to find out. That’s why it took a long time. In the end, we’ve destroyed the drug production plants. There are no more drugs.”

Kamil sniffed around father.

“Hmmm. No Drugs. wait. But this smells a lot like that drug.

A small box came out of my father’s pocket.

“This is a therapeutic drug. It’s a new drug that hasn’t even been tested yet. This is going to change the world. I’m looking forward to it! I'm sure Marc will be interested too, so I’ll tell you about it later.”

My father looked at Yuki next to me. “You are Marc's dependent. Hoh, you must have some rare blood.”

Yuki put her hand on her chest and bowed. “Yes, sir. I have been made a dependent of Marc-sama. My name is Yuki. I am a newcomer, but I look forward to working with you."

“You have good eyes! Take care of him for me.”

“Dad. Yuki is a doctor just like me. Can we ask about that drug with you later?”

"It doesn't matter. As long as you can understand the technical terminology, there's no problem. My other sons don't seem to be interested."

He said this and laughed heartily. Then he looked at me, “Marcus. You will be the next chief.”

“!”

“What? But I’m the youngest, Mikey’s the one you should be talking to.”

Suddenly I noticed the soft gazes of my brothers around me. My father said,

“You’ve interacted with the other species, you’ve built trust with them. You’re the one best suited for this.”
