The first awareness of Duma. It was in the demon world surrounded by an overwhelming negative aura.
In the pitch blackness, where not even a ray of light could penetrate ——— there was a voice.
"Do you hate humans?"
The voice echoed in Duma's head, cold and heavy as if it had become one with the blackness of the surroundings.
"…hu, hate..."
Duma muttered unconsciously. The words came out of her mouth so naturally.
"Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate"
As if to vent out everything that had been bottled up inside her chest, Duma called out in rapid succession.
There was no reason for it. Hate. Just absolutely hated humans. It was an instinctive feeling that was inherent in Duma.
"Then I will strengthen that power. Duma! Be the bane that destroys all of mankind."
A voice of darkness was heard from far above. The chaotic atmosphere that pervaded the area felt very pleasant for Duma.
She found herself kneeling in front of the vast and boundless evil.
While subconsciously showing the utmost respect she could muster, Duma opened her puppet doll's mouth with "Kapari."
"I-I understand. L-Lord Demon Lord…" It was the earliest memory of Duma. From the moment she was born, Duma had an intense hatred in her heart. If she had anything close to what humans called a "heart," it would be that "hatred." It was a powerful hatred for mankind that she had harbored in her since the day she was born as a demon.
(A-And yet, Suzuki is… kike ke ke ke!)
When Suzuki told her that she had a conscience deep within her, Duma had no choice but to burst out laughing. There was no such thing. How can a puppet doll have a conscience? Right now, the urge that rose from the depths of her heart... was only one.
(I-I want to turn you into a doll! T-That's AAALLLLLLL!)
"Kike ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke!!"
A moment later, she pounced at Suzuki furiously and tried to bite his defenseless, thin neck. Duma noticed that Suzuki had his right hand covering his face.
(H-He's trying to invoke some kind of magic or sorcery, isn't he?! I-I don't care! It doesn't matter what kind of attack, since I-I will not die!)
Duma decided to continue her attack. She opened her mouth, which split open until her ears and bared her needle-like fangs.
(U-Use plenty to flood him! I'll pour my fluids, a-all over you, ya knoooow!)
"…Pritis's 48 Gestures—Thirteenth Gesture, 'Teary Eyes'!"
Just before the fangs reached his neck, Suzuki removed his hand from his face.
"Eh… EEEHH…?"
As soon as he did, Duma was startled and stopped moving. With her mouth open like a snake's mouth, what Duma saw was…
"Sniff… Sniff..."
While rubbing his face with his hand, Suzuki wept quietly.
Suzuki's actions were too unexpected for Duma. He was not casting magic or using a physical attack but whimpering and weeping with an absolutely pitiful expression on his face.
"Sniff… Sniff..."
Finally, Suzuki covered his face with both hands.
(N-No, why? Why are you crying when you haven't even been bitten yet…!?)
Somehow, she felt like she should not attack Suzuki while he was in such a state. However, Duma shook her head.
"C-Crying is USELESS! Puppet dolls d-don't have feelings of guilt, you know!"
The only reason she stopped the attack was because she was surprised by the strange behavior. While telling herself this, Duma opened her mouth again and bared her countless needle-like fangs.
She lowered his stance and was about to pounce at him, hoping to finish him off this time. Again, Suzuki opened his mouth.
"Pritis's 48 Gestures—Fourteenth Gesture, 'Melodramatic Tears'!"
(This time for sure, h-he will try something!)
Duma braced herself for Suzuki's attack. However…
"Sniff Sniff… Sniff… Sniff Sniff… Sniff…"
Suzuki was weirdly struggling, just as before.
(I-It's the same thing as before! N-No… it's a little different…!?)
This time, Suzuki did not cover his face. And from his eyes, large drops of tears were falling "boroboro."
(H-He's bawling, "boroboro," h-his eyes out…!!)
The slave woman, Excella, who was watching the battle, raised her voice.
"What huge tears!! They look like something straight out of a children's picture book!!"
They were indeed the biggest tears Duma had ever seen. How was a human capable of shedding such large tears? The tears flowed down "boroboro" like beautiful gems. N-N-No, that… just… what was the point of it…!
"Within the cuteness, pityness is contained! A series of Pritis moves that will make your enemies sympathize with you! That is the 'Sorrow's Flow'! Isn't it?"
Suzuki nodded in agreement with Excella's words.
(Pityness, you say? Indeed. Certainly, the current Suzuki is more than only cute.)
If most ordinary demons saw him, they might feel sorry for him and hesitate to attack him.
