Gale came at me at an insane speed.

Somewhere along the way, he'd pulled out a greatsword the size of his own body. Bigger than my Hakoku, but he swung it around like it weighed nothing.

"Oho, you dodged that? Not bad, kiddo!"

He kept swinging while shouting compliments, and I kept barely dodging with my magic suit forcing my body to move.

"Urk!"

"Blocking a direct hit too?! Impressive!"

The ones I couldn't dodge, I parried with Hakoku. It’s insane , his hits were heavy. Heavy enough that I'm pretty sure only a Genesis-class weapon like Hakoku could tank them.

"HAH!"

"Whoa—close one."

I put everything into a swing to create some distance.

"Excuse me...your sword. Is that mythril? Scarletite?"

I can’t believe it. That's what my brain said, but my intuition was screaming that I was right.

"...You're Halt, right? Kiddo, you're something else. Nobody's ever guessed the material of this sword before."

Gale raised his greatsword to the sky.

"This is Vermilion. Thirty years I spent forging it from a raw lump. My partner."

"You forged a lump of scarletite into a greatsword?"

That's not possible. Scarletite is called "immutable metal" for a reason—you can't work it. That's literally the rule.

"Can't believe it?"

"Would you?"

Back when I was the Guardian Hero, I made Tina a scarletite ring. But that was only possible because I activated my Guardian skill and brute-forced it with my level 360 stats, ignoring the world's rules.

Sure, I could work scarletite now too—but only because of the Evil God's curse, [Status: Fixed].

For a normal person? It’s absolutely impossible.

"Halt. You're the first person to guess what my clan's namesake sword is made of. That makes me happy. So I'll tell you something special."

The amount and density of mana around Gale exploded.

Like, past-human-limits exploded.

"I've got a skill called Limit Break. This world's level cap is 300—but I can push mine to 400."

"...You've got to be kidding."

"Though, the EXP needed after 300 is insane. Unless I go raid the Demon Realm, levels barely move."

Ah. So that's it.

This guy's been grinding in hell.

"Wait. You actually went to the Demon Realm to level up?"

"If there's a way to get stronger, you take it, right?"

He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"So... what's your level now?"

"370. 400's still a long way off."

No way. That's stronger than the Guardian Hero with his skill active.

"What you've seen so far was my 'fighting humans' mode. Now I'm switching to my 'fighting demons' mode. You still want to go?"

Half threat, half curiosity to see if I'd take the bait.

Fine by me.

I'm in.

"Yeah. Let's do it. Then I'll switch to my 'fighting gods' mode."

The level I use against Poseidon and the Dragon God. Ah, not the level I used against the Evil God, of course. That'd be overkill.

"...'Fighting gods'? What—WHAT IS THIS MANA?!"

I might have let a little too much out. The Clan House was shaking. Guess I can't drag this out. If we're doing this, it's gonna be quick.

"Here... I come."

I pushed my physical stats to the absolute limit with mana, closed the distance in a single step, and wound up Hakoku.

"HYAH!"

I brought it down on Gale's greatsword with everything I had.

Hakoku's a Genesis-class weapon, also made of scarletite. On top of that, it's got layers of divine blessings. But since it's immutable metal, those blessings aren't for durability.

Meaning Hakoku and Vermilion have the same base strength. Same material. So the difference comes down to how much mana you can pump into them.

And I poured everything I had into Hakoku.

It cleaved straight through Vermilion.
