Ch. 797 - Battle of The Undying Race

A great battle seemed to be taking place ahead. Even just the shockwaves shattered the void for hundreds of miles around.

A mushroom cloud slowly rose from the sky and exploded outward.

Spiritforce surged in all directions, and the sky for ten thousand miles was cloudless.

“Interesting. Let’s go take a look,” Xu Zimo said with a smile.

Chaos roared, tearing through the shockwaves of the battle. The two enormous wings behind it, vast enough to blot out the sky, swept across half the void as it flew in.

“Who are you to kill my Undying Race without reason?” a furious voice echoed through the void.

“Why ask so many questions when you’re about to die? It’s a waste of time,” a light chuckle followed.

The battle erupted again in the next moment.

Thunderous explosions echoed.

“The Undying Race,” Xu Zimo frowned slightly.

As one of the three great races of the Desolate Era, alongside the Beast Race and the Titan Race, they once ruled the entire Primordial Heartlands.

They had jointly created the splendor of the Desolate Era.

Later, the Titan Race suffered massive losses during the war with the Dark Primordials, nearly going extinct.

The Beast Race was destroyed by Zhen Wu, ending the Desolate Era and ushering in the Imperial Era.

Only the Undying Race preserved their strength and hid during the human-dominated era.

The last time Xu Zimo encountered the Undying Race was in Sword Immortal Jiang Yun’s Particle World. They had tried to seize it but ended in mutual destruction.

Now, seeing them again, it seemed the Undying Race had suffered greatly.

When Chaos reached the center of the battlefield, Xu Zimo finally saw the scene clearly.

There were two sides: one was the Undying Race.

Although they had suffered heavy losses, they still had over a thousand people remaining.

The other side had only one man, a young man carrying a longsword on his back.

He was fighting alone against a thousand, and each member of the Undying Race was at least of the Paragon Meridian realm. Many were even at the Imperial Meridian realm.

The leaders among them had clearly reached the peak of the God Meridian realm.

Yet they looked at the white-robed youth with clear nervousness, even fear.

As Chaos’s massive figure appeared, all eyes turned.

Seeing their gazes, Xu Zimo waved his hand and smiled. “Carry on, don’t mind me. I’m just here to watch.”

The youth paid them no attention and walked toward the Undying Race, holding his three-foot-wide sword.

“Why are you killing us?” one of the Undying Race leaders shouted. “I don’t recall ever offending you.”

“I kill because I want to. Nothing else matters,” the white-robed youth replied.

A powerful sword aura erupted from him, and the red greatsword in his hand trembled.

Blood dripped from the red sword, brutal and merciless.

“If you won’t back down,” one of the Undying leaders growled, “then kill him!”

The remaining thousand members roared and charged forward.

“Just your death throes,” the white-robed youth sneered.

He shouted, “Slaughter Sword Descends!”

In that instant, sword cries echoed across the sky.

At some point, the entire sky became filled with sword intent. Dense sword energy reverberated everywhere.

These sword energies took the shape of his red greatsword, and ten thousand blades filled the void.

Instantly, the charging Undying Race members panicked.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The longswords pierced the silent void and encircled them.

Each sword strike carried immense bloodlust.

Tens of thousands of sword strikes fell together, covering the sky with blood.

“Hide the sword in its edge, let its cry echo across the seas.”

The youth slowly swung his sword, and countless sword intents in the sky began slaughtering the Undying Race.

Most of them resisted only briefly before being torn apart by the sword energy.

Blood rain fell from the sky, filling the air with a thick metallic scent.

Screams and cries of terror blended into a chaotic cacophony.

“Can you tell what technique that is?” Xu Zimo asked Monk Great Wisdom.

“Amitabha,” the monk bowed and replied.

“Judging by this man’s style, it’s identical to the Slaughter Emperor’s. He must be a disciple of the Immortal Extinction Sacred Ground.

And likely not just any disciple.”

“The Immortal Extinction Sacred Ground? The colossal force in the Overlord Region?” Xu Zimo muttered.

The Middle Continent is divided into five regions. Aside from the Holyflower Region, Skyflower Region, and the Ninelands Region where Xu Zimo had been, the remaining two were the Overlord Region and the Skysoar Region.

The Immortal Extinction Sacred Ground is even larger than the True Martial Sacred Ground.

Because they produced five Grand Emperors.

Five emperors from one lineage, three of them coming one after another.

Three consecutive generations of Grand Emperors came from this one lineage.

That alone spoke volumes about their strength.

Founded by the original Extinction Emperor, the lineage was expanded by the Ancient Emperor, the Tribulation Emperor, and the Primal Emperor. It was ultimately capped off by the White Emperor, turning the lineage into a blinding star that ruled over the Overlord Region.

The Overlord Region had many imperial lineages, but most kept to themselves. The prestige of the Immortal Extinction Sacred Ground, however, was unrivaled.

“Even if we die today, one day our Undying Race will have revenge!” someone screamed.

“Don’t worry. When I become a Grand Emperor, I’ll destroy your race,” the white-robed youth laughed.

Sword aura filled the sky as corpses rained down. He stood beneath the blood rain, arms open, enjoying the moment.

“That’s enough,” the youth murmured.

Then he spread his arms wide, releasing a unique aura.

His skin turned crimson red.

His pupils became strange, also crimson red.

His ears grew long and pointed.

His teeth became jagged, with two massive fangs.

In that moment, he looked like a monster.

“What is that?” Monk Great Wisdom frowned.

Then his expression changed. “No... that’s a battle body. One of the hundred great battle bodies, the Undying Physique.”

The white-robed youth opened his arms, and the corpses of the Undying Race seemed to be drawn toward him.

Their flesh and hearts shattered and were absorbed into his body.

“He’s absorbing them,” Monk Great Wisdom said in shock. “He’s trying to strengthen himself with the Undying Race.”

“No wonder he’s killing them,” Xu Zimo suddenly understood.

The Undying Race has a unique physique, different from humans. Inside them is a mysterious power.

This power allows them to regrow limbs, and at high cultivation, even resurrect from death.

Humans can only regrow limbs at extremely high levels.

But the Undying Race is born with this ability.
