Vol. 1 - Ch. 35 - Support supplies

“…I know, I know. I was prepared for it in my own way. Is the current situation that bad?”

“Aah. It's worse than you think, Yuki. You might regret it if you did go. But you're still going, aren't you?”

Yuki's serious expression made me think.

“I want to hear from you every day in the morning. Of course, it's your call. But it’s dangerous at night and there are many attacks around that time. That’s why I want to hear your voice while it’s still bright.”

I kissed Yuki softly. She put her arms around my neck and said,

“I'm going to try my best to do what you experienced. I'm sure there would probably be times when I’d feel like crying, but when I hear your voice, I feel like I can do my best.”

While hugging Yuki, I said,

“Okay. Just don’t push yourself too hard. If you feel like crying, just cry over the phone. I can understand how you feel. I’ve seen a lot of tragedies with my own eyes. I won’t ask you to endure them, and I won’t tell you to put up with them. There's really not much we can do. There are probably many things to worry about in a land not as fortunate in medical care as here in Japan. But, Yuki. There are people who can be saved with your hands. There are nurses and volunteers on site. Go learn English well.”

“Well! Marc. You make it sound like I don't speak english well!”

“Your english is very gentle. You'll be surprised when you go over there. Don't fight, because there will be that much cursing."

“I know...Don't say PLEASE so nicely.”

“That's right. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll be fine.”

We both put our foreheads together and smile at each other.

“Good luck.”

By the way, why was I being summoned here? In front of me was the chairman of the hospital. Next to him was the hospital director. They both looked at me.

“Dr. Marcus. We’ve got a lot of supplies coming our way. Can you do something about it? We can't fit them in the warehouse, so we had to have them brought into the nearby dome, but...we're getting complaints from there as well. They can’t fit in so it’s a problem if it overflows.”

So that's how it is. I've given several lectures. It wouldn't be strange if they came from all over the country. I'll ask the military for help!

“I understand! I'll contact the U.S. military now and have them airlift it to you. Don't worry about the cost of helicopter transportation. I'll be responsible for sending those supplies."

At these words, the two men's faces hardened.

“......the American military?!”

“Japan won't be able to go to the conflict areas, so the US military will be fine!”

“Well... that's not what we meant.…When it comes to moving the army, there are certain procedures to follow, right? I’m just saying. Besides, who’s going to deal with them if they show up suddenly?”

They seemed flustered.

“I will take care of everything. I've done it in many other countries. In Japan, it would be the Self-Defense Forces. Let's have them help us with the supplies!”

The two men were stunned. On the spot, I contacted my brother Mikey, who was in the US military.

"Brother. I'm sorry, but I need your help again.”

“Again? That's fine, I’ll let you decide where you want to take it.”

"You can use the military for that, can’t you? As long as you deliver the supplies, I don’t want anything else from you.”

“Okay! I'll contact the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. There will be plenty more, won't there?”

“Lots of stuff!”
