Ch. 1556 - Infernal Lord, Long Time No See

“Phoenix, step back.”

From the throne, the Infernal Lord’s voice suddenly echoed.

The guardian who had been fighting the elder of the Royal Primordial Race immediately withdrew. The Infernal Lord lifted his head and looked at the old man before him. The elder charged forward in fury, murderous aura soaring skyward as though he intended to overturn the heavens themselves. Power surged throughout his body.

Yet when he reached the Infernal Lord, all that momentum abruptly halted.

Because the Infernal Lord simply extended a hand and seized the old man by the throat. He lifted him effortlessly, looking at him with cold indifference.

“Ten-Day Progenitor, your era has come to an end.”

“You… you deserve to die!” the elder struggled.

“Everyone dies. I’ve never feared my own death. But death, to me, is merely a path one must walk, not the end of life.”

The Infernal Lord gazed toward the distant horizon.

“Perhaps my entire life has been an unending cycle between life and death, an immortal loop.”

As soon as his words fell, he did not hesitate. He thrust the Sky-Piercing Halberd straight into the elder’s abdomen. Power surged through the spear, consuming the old man entirely.

Once finished, the Infernal Lord sat calmly back on the throne. The Royal Primordial Race, rulers of countless glorious eras, had finally met the inevitable fate of decline. What awaited them now was destruction.

“You wanted to kill my past, didn’t you?” Xu Zimo said with a smile.

“Go on then. He’s sitting right there. I’ll be watching.”

At this moment, the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch was already terrified beyond reason. Because the Infernal Lord’s gaze slowly turned, and landed upon him.

The Infernal Lord said nothing, but the pressure was so immense that the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch nearly collapsed on the spot.

“Oh? You carry the power of time. A future elder, then.”

“Just an accident, but a rather interesting meeting,” Xu Zimo replied with a smile.

“I hope you do not repeat the mistakes of the past. Truly find the final answer, and bring everything to an end,” the Infernal Lord said softly.

He waved his hand again and glanced at the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch. The distorted void around them shifted.

“I’ll take you into the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch’s past. You can kill him easily. I hope that when we meet again, you can fulfill the dream passed down through generations of demons.”

Xu Zimo had no strength to resist. The twisting void swallowed him again.

When he reappeared, he found himself inside the Radiant Court.

No, not the present Radiant Court. This was tens of millions of years ago, before the great war between the Sun-Moon Temple and the Radiant Court had ever taken place.

Xu Zimo was witnessing the past, the memories of the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch. This was the timeline of his former self.

Soon, Xu Zimo saw a lively little boy hopping along from the distance. The child carried a yin–yang disk on his back, yin–yang energy surging naturally around him.

When the child approached, he also noticed Xu Zimo.

“You’re the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch?” Xu Zimo asked.

“My master gave me the title ‘Yin–Yang,’ but what is a ‘Saint Sovereign’?” the boy asked innocently.

“Oh, right. You haven’t become a Saint yet,” Xu Zimo laughed.

He grabbed the boy with one hand. In the child’s terrified gaze, Xu Zimo cast him into the void, where the twisting space instantly shredded the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch’s past.

Then Xu Zimo’s body was pulled once more through the void.

This time, he returned to his own timeline.

Now, Xu Zimo looked at the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch before him. With the distortion of the Grand Yin-Yang Scripture, the Saint Sovereign’s body began dissolving from the feet upward.

“What... what did you do to me?!” the Saint Sovereign screamed in terror.

“The same thing you wanted to do to me, erasing your past,” Xu Zimo said with a smile.

Hearing this, the Yin-Yang Sage Monarch was horrified.

“You’re a demon… a true devil!”

“Weren’t you the one who insisted on seeing my past?” Xu Zimo said lightly. “What’s wrong? Are you scared now?”

The Yin-Yang Sage Monarch struggled desperately, but it was useless. Without a past, there can be no present.

Almost all the Saint Sovereigns went mad and charged at Xu Zimo. Xu Zimo did not retreat. Demonic energy roared around him, power surging through the sky. As the Saint Sovereigns rushed in, Xu Zimo swung Shadow Tyrant, its killing intent sweeping across the battlefield.

The battle that followed was pure life-and-death struggle. Every slash from Xu Zimo’s blade drew blood; every punch from the Saint Sovereigns struck his flesh.

All the Saint Sovereigns were battered and bleeding. Xu Zimo as well, flesh torn, body mangled, and even with the Tree of Life constantly healing him, his injuries remained severe.

Yet Xu Zimo laughed wildly, intoxicated by the battle.

Explosions thundered nonstop.

“Come again!” Xu Zimo roared.

Some Saint Sovereigns began to waver. Not because they feared Xu Zimo, but because they realized that even if they fought until the Sun–Moon God died to the formation, they still would not be able to kill Xu Zimo. The battle was meaningless.

Yet Xu Zimo charged at them like a madman.

“Lord, do something!” a Saint Sovereign shouted anxiously.

The body of Bright Sun Sovereign, which had been consumed earlier, now reappeared in the sky, but only as a soul. His body was long gone.
