Translator's note:

I know that some countries might not have "internet cafes," so let me explain. "Internet cafe" is called "网吧" in Chinese, which directly translates to "Net Bar." This means it was not originally related to drinking coffee or eating. Internet cafes were created to provide internet services for people without computers. Over time, they became places mainly for people who want to play games.

Staying overnight in internet cafes was a common activity among teenagers in China, especially more than ten or fifteen years ago. To keep computers running 24 hours for maximum profit, these cafes would offer night-time deals, usually much cheaper than during the day. Customers could spend very little money to stay from midnight to 7 am the next morning.

With the drop in computer prices and the rise of mobile gaming, internet cafes in China are quickly declining. Now, they are mostly found in smaller, more remote towns. In big cities, internet cafes either close down or transform into luxury venues with high-end computers and chairs, and offering various food and massage services.
