Sniper Encounters Battle

I reflect on my actions while mining.

It’s not that I feel bad for killing the big sister NPC.

After killing her and taking the potions, there was a brief period of time before the angry soldiers arrived.

In other words, I might have succeeded if I had fled quickly without waiting.

That’s how the system allows you to play.

When I angered the gatekeeper, he ran 100 meters in less than three seconds at breakneck speed.

Assuming that the soldiers in the town have the running speed, even if I had escaped from the store, they would’ve caught up with me immediately.

No, even if I could run 100 meters in 10 seconds, I wouldn’t be able to escape.

The job of a sniper is slow-going, and I am slow too.

If only I had the stealth skills that the PK boy was using….

I think about it for a while and decide to give up.

There’s nothing I can do with the skills I have, and killing NPCs and taking their items is one of the most sinister ways to play.

I want to do something else, so I’ll hold on until I find something more effective.

That’s why I came to the abandoned area today.

Decaying stone buildings are everywhere.

It must have been a prosperous town in the past.

I enter the tallest building in the ruins.

I enter a room on the fifth floor and look out the rotting window.

Yes, it’s in good condition.

I can’t lie on my stomach because I have to peek the barrel out the window, but I can set the sniper rifle on the window frame properly, so it’s stable.

I get down on my knees and mark my target.

This area is filled with goblins and ogres wandering around.

It seems to be a hunting ground for beginner to intermediate players, and you can see a few parties of players looking for monsters here and there.

Not bad.

If I hunt monsters and only occasionally kill a player, they won’t know I’m killing them.

I aim and shoot the goblin.

I aim again and shoot the ogre.

I repeat this for a while.

Earning skill points is important, so I want to hunt as many monsters as possible.

I silently shoot the monsters.

I think I just heard something in the building.

Not upstairs. Downstairs.

I sneak up and quietly hide myself in the shadows of the room.

Luckily, this room is full of broken furniture, so I won’t get caught right away.

I listen carefully.

I hear the sound of metal hitting metal, and then something explodes.

Sounds like someone is fighting.

The sounds of fighting can be heard from the top of the stairs and down the corridor until it reaches the front of this room.

…What to do?

From the sound of it, it’s not player versus monster.

It’s definitely a battle between players.

Is it a battle between PK players, or is it just general players trying to get away from PK players?

I don’t know, but the only way for me to get out of this place is to jump out the window.

But this is the fifth floor.

And the outside is crawling with monsters.

With the fall damage, there’s no way I could escape from the hordes of monsters.

In other words, if I escape through the window, I will die.

I’ve never been in a situation like this before, so I can’t think straight.

Then, the battling players charge into the room.

Two on two.

Two men are on the winning side.

One of them is an archer, who shoots arrows in small bursts to limit the opponent’s movement.

I see, Is that a long-range weapon that doesn’t have cool time for its normal attacks and can shoot continuously?

The other is a boy armed with two daggers, attacking the opponent with quick movements… the PK boy who killed me the other day!

The losing side is a man and a woman.

The man seems to be a swordsman, using his sword to defend and retreat, but he can’t keep up with the dagger boy’s movements, and his HP gauge is already low.

The woman seems to be a magician, but she’s unable to use her skills due to the archer’s barrage of shots.

I’ve made up my mind.

I have decided to join the losing side.

To get revenge on the PK boy who killed me, of course.

He is unlucky to meet me here.

I’m going to teach the boy a good lesson for underestimating a grown man who is thirty years old.

The archer doesn’t do anything flashy.

He’s persistent in shooting repeatedly to block the opponent’s actions.

He’s good. His movements are the movements of a player who’s used to playing against other people.

Suddenly, the dagger boy’s body disappears. He’s activated his stealth skill.

Then he flanks the swordsman and attacks.

I see, I got it…

It seems that he can’t attack while in a state of stealth, considering how he appeared during the attack.

The swordsman is done for.

One more blow and he’ll be dead.

If that happens…

I get down on my knees in the shadows and hold up my sniper rifle.

It’s not far away, so I don’t have to worry about missing.

I set my aim on the target and wait for the right moment to make sure I hit it.

The dagger boy goes stealthy again.

The swordsman’s expression twists.

The boy reappears and deals a crushing blow to the swordsman.

The swordsman disappears into particles of light.

This is it.

When that boy attacks, that’s when he’s most vulnerable.

I pull the trigger.

The gunshot echoes throughout the room, and the dagger-wielding boy disappears in a particle of light.

He won’t know what happened.

“What the hell!?”

The archer is dismayed.

I understand how he’s feeling. It doesn’t make sense to him.

But is it okay to stop firing?

There’s a magician right in front of you who has been waiting for an opportunity to use her skills.

「Freezing Edge」

The archer disappears with a startled look on his face as a slash of ice strikes him.

But it’s not over yet.

I immediately point the muzzle of the rifle at the magician woman.

I’m not going to kill any more than I’ve helped.

I’m happy to take revenge on the PK boy.

But if she shows signs of attacking, I have to kill her before she kills me.

The magician sticks her hand out at me, as if she’s going to use her spells…

 “… Eh?”

I give her a puzzled look.

Her chestnut hair, neatly trimmed at the shoulders, sways gently.

“… Senpai!?”

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

    What a coincidence… or not.
They already said they would probably play together IF they ran into each other in game.
So it was only natural that they would run into each other in a short amount of time.
